Hello, and welcome to my interview with kittywomp! ♥ They are a talented skin creator well-known both here on PMC and the Skindex for their lovely creations, as well as being a delightful friend to many people on both sites. x I hope you enjoy our interview!
My questions are in blue; their replies are in turquoise. x
1. What inspired you to start making Minecraft skins?
1. While I don't think I had an exact reason for starting to make skins, I think I had always been interested in editing skins so that they fit what I wanted more. I think I started making and posting skins on the skindex as an artistic activity, though.
2. How did you discover PMC? What is one of your favourite memories of the site?
2. I discovered PMC while creating skins on skindex. I think I joined during an especially "toxic" point in skindex's life, and a lot of people were choosing to leave their accounts and move to PMC completely. I wasn't interested in it at first, but by now, I like PMC much better than skindex, haha. After a while, I made an account here. Originally, I didn't plan for my account here to be much more than the pmc version of my skindex account, but eventually, I do want this account to be my "main account" for creating minecraft skins instead of the skindex one :) As for one of my favorite memories of the site... I don't think I really have one. I haven't been on pmc for very long (maybe about a year and a half) and I'm also slightly forgetful. I like being on pmc in general. It's overall a positive environment and I enjoy being here c:
3. Do you have a persona? If so, what inspired you to create them?
3. I do have an oc I use as a persona! The most recent version is outdated and I no longer use it, so I won't be linking it here. The character was originally meant to be my persona and has gone through many changes. I still haven't even found a name that fits the character, but right now I'm using the name Aqua as a placeholder for referring to her c: I’m working on updating the skin as I’m typing this, so it should be released before this is published :) I don't think I had that much inspiration for the newer versions of my persona, although I do think I was inspired by Monca and you with past versions of my persona ^^
4. Do you have a favourite submission that you've made? Your favourite that someone else has made?
4. Out of my recent-ish ones, I really like this one (in part because it was challenging and fun for me to do and because it actually looks okay). I have to admit that I'm not usually happy with how my skins turn out. I guess I need to practice more ^^ As for my favorite submissions of other people- I don't think I have any favorites, but off the top of my head I like anything made by anxii, Mellie, and you, haha. just some of my favorite styles I guess c: (There are a bunch of other creators too, but this paragraph would be mostly names if I listed them all-)
5. Who would you say has influenced or inspired you the most on PMC?
5. I think the people who have inspired me the most are probably (again lol-) you and anxii :) To name a few reasons, I’ve always really liked the shiny highlights you use on your skins and anxii is so good at colors and seeing how they hueshift basically taught me how to do it ^^ I’ve always liked bright colors so that’s probably another factor in why I like both of your styles and been influenced by them ^^ (thank you!)
6. If you could add one feature to PMC, what would it be? Would you remove any preexisting features, and if so, which one(s)?
6. I spent a very long time thinking about this and I couldn’t think of anything other than adding another slot to link a custom website on your profile ;; I get distracted easily and may or may not have just switched music playlists- I can’t think of any feature I’d remove, though, which I guess is a good thing!
7. What would you consider your greatest accomplishment here on PMC? In real life?
7. I won’t go into real life details since (as people have probably noticed by now lol) I don’t give away pretty much anything at all about my irl self online (I’m very cautious about online privacy). On PMC, I don’t think I’ve done anything notable in the community, although—and this is a bit less of an overall accomplishment, but just an accomplishment that matters to me—PMC and making skins has let me understand color a lot more and I’m proud of myself for learning more about it mostly on my own through this site :)
8. What advice would you give to a new PMC member?
8. The advice I would give to a new pmc member is to know that I’ve never seen anyone on pmc who has been on here for a decent time who HASN’T improved, so there’s no need to be worried about not making an improvement in whatever category you’re making things in :) Also- subscriptions don’t matter as much as happiness ;; please don’t be more focused on gaining subscriptions over having fun creating things because it just isn’t worth it. (That’s another thing I love about PMC: my sub count doesn’t show when I’m logged in unless I go to the page so I don’t look at it as much ^^ yay!)
9. What is one cause that you especially believe in? Would you like to say anything about it to the community?
9. There are many causes that I (very) strongly believe in, (they’re on my profile page I think) one being female rights. Especially with the things going on right now, I really feel like the world should actually learn about sexism and women’s rights, be educated, and have female representation and acceptance in everything from entertainment industries (like video games!) to science and technology to politics and government. Same goes for racial representation and lgbtq+ representation.
10. Do you have a current goal for your content?
10. My current goal for my content is to start posting my art and practicing new skin techniques :) I’m really excited for skinfight (as of writing this, skinfight sign-ups are about to happen) because I’m going to try to use it to practice and get my style to where I want it to be ^^
11. How would you describe yourself in three words?
11. Creative, determined, empathetic. I’m creative because—well—art. I like art :) I’ve been improving at a rate that is surprising myself recently so I’m proud of myself for that ^^ (Not sure about the grammar of that sentence but I guess you could say I’m… being creative with English?? ;; hehe (wait I just reread that sentence and yeah that’s not proper grammar right? but oh well)) I’m also very determined—in art, in defending what I believe in with passion, in trying to be kind in the majority of situations even if I don’t agree with people—and I think this describes me well, even if I am a bit shy. I’m also very, very empathetic, and this sometimes is not to my own benefit. I don’t know how to describe this without going into personal things, but I can say that I think and feel for people more than I speak to them. Ahh this is a bit of a hard topic for me ;; It doesn’t help that my playlist just went to a sad song so I’m going to go change that really quick- ok I’m good. Anyway, this was fun!! Thank you having this interview with me <3 I really enjoyed it :)
