Have you ever been in Minecraft on a flatland world, and you light the ground on fire. And then all of a sudden the fire goes out but the light doesn't? It angers me so much! I know this has been addressed before but please Jeb, you must see this and fix it. I don't know anyone who doesn't get angered by it all.
I have a new idea of adding a Viewer Comment Question (VCQ) on every blog I do, so here's the first one...
When you are in Creative Mode, what do you light blocks on fire with, Flint & Steel or Fire Charge?

edit: your question about how blocks should light on fire.... flint and steel would only light up stone, wood, grass, wool and sand..... (doesn't light up mobs unless they run into it) but has less uses than fire charge. (breaks faster)
Fire charge can work sort of like a snowball.... it will light up mobs, wood, grass, sand, and wool. (but not stone)
