I always wanted Minecraft worlds to be more accurate, with larger biomes and higher mountains. Therefore I came up with the idea to create such a world by myself.
The World is 10240 blocks in diameter and consist of three large continents and many Islands. The only tool I used was WorldPainter and it took me around 300 hours to create.
It is fully capable of being played in survival mode. Minecraft randomly generates everything needed: trees, ores, resources, dungeons, fortresses, mine shafts (and much more!). It works with every version or mod. Only the caves are a bit different and there are no entries on the surface.
You are free to use it for any reason. But please let me know if you use my map for your own project or server. I gladly see what you are doing with it. Unfortunately I dont have the time to cover it with buildings myself.

Useful things to know about survival mode:
- The whole world is marked as "unpopulated": Minecraft randomly adds stuff when you enter an area.
- This should work with future versions too (new features will be implemented).
- It should also work with mods generating their own resources and structures.
- There are no NPC-villages (I guess it is the seeds fault).
- The caves are slightly different and have no entries on the surface.
- I simulated the bedrock layers and added small lava spots underneath layer 11.
- In snowy mountain areas you find emeralds on layer 5 to 29, slightly more than in extreme hills biomes.
- There is also clay in the ground from layer 32 to 60.
- The water level is 62 and the lava level 11 (like in normal Minecraft worlds).
- Outside the world is at least 512 blocks void. After that a normal Minecraft world is generated.
- When you enter the world for the first time you are in creative mode.
- Switch gamemode with "/gamemode 0" for survival mode.
