An example/demonstration for the new palette system.
This pack gives a uniform look to all the book textures, combining the best parts of all the designs and giving them a slightly newer look. The book and quill uses the old leather palette (I think I sampled the old and not the new one?), and the enchanted book gets a purple and red design with green highlights. The text on all covers is now more contrasting (coloured like the books, ink, tooltips, gold, etc) and the pages are cleaner (lighter).
Does not change the GUI for the knowledge book, as this is more of a proof of concept, as is the inclusion of that item. Sorry, haha! (It was inconsistent forever, now that it's consistent I've ruined it again. At least it's still close...)

How this pack works:
All 5 books share one texture in a placeholder colour. I put it in a custom folder since you need the atlas anyways. There is a palette with the placeholder colours to replace (so the pages still stay the same no matter what), and 5 palettes for the five books. The atlas file uses these to generate the textures. I then make the item model reference those textures instead, and also overlay any overlays I want; a new quill that isn't copied from vanilla, and also a new sash which contrasts the red book with lapis and diamond.
I hope this can demonstrate the occasional use for this new feature! This means if you want to change shape or detailing for all the books at once, it's just one texture (excluding the sash), and if you want to recolour just one, it's easy to make sure you replace everything. I tried to pick something where some stuff is replaced, some isn't, some things are overlayed, and also you can get a variety of palettes, one including an interrupting contrast, and another using the same colour twice on the palette. =]

Could this be used to link all the textures in a wood set and make them depend on just 1 color palette file?
If we built a system like this though, it certainly makes it easier to change for later as soon as there's framework (unless we want unique textures, which some packs like). ^-^
