The Civil War in Russia was a series of armed conflicts between various political, ethnic, social groups and state entities on the territory of the Russian Republic that followed the establishment of Bolshevik power in Petrograd and Moscow in October 1917.

The civil War was a consequence of the revolutionary crisis that unfolded in the Russian Empire at the beginning of the XX century, which began with the revolution of 1905-1907, worsened during the First World War and led to the fall of the monarchy, economic ruin, deep social, national, political and ideological split of Russian society. The apogee of this split was a fierce war on a nationwide scale between the armed forces of the Soviet government, the White Movement and national independence movements with the participation of the Central Powers and the Entente.
