I've always known what I would make if I was a modder. More combat. Think about it guys; the combat is great, but it could be greater. Here, lemme make things easy. I'm going to list everything I would put into the game, and describe them.

Hit Points- I would change the system. You cant really do much with our tiny amount of hitpoints right now. After playing Minecraft for a very long time, I have seen that the difference between swords is really just a heart or two. Of course, diamond does plenty more than wood, but on a upgrade scale, wood to stone is just a few more, right? To my point, I would increase the hit points a Minecraftian has to 100. I would equally increase every mob's health to the correct proportions. This wouldn't give us more health. Keep reading...

Damage- Damage needs to be more impacting in combat. Think of PvP maps! You want a little more edge varying between weapons. All weapons would be changed to do just as much damage as fits for the new hit points system. And when weapons are crafted they would have slightly more or less damage than on average. This would help differ the same weapons from each other. Now your probably thinking.. "Wait.. but the change won't make a difference, because now everything is the same again, but the numbers changed." And your correct. Keep reading. ;D

Weapons & Equipment- This is where the damage values really come into play. With new weapons, the damage values can help separate them from each other. Sure, the swords and bow are great, but I want more. Many of us do! More weapons keep the warriors entertained! They make great additions to PvP maps and to survival. They would also be enchant-able. Check this out!
-Knives: Crafted with a stick and the material above it, Can be thrown etc. Does less damage than sword, and has less reach.
-Long Sword: Crafted with the type of material above the type of sword it matches. Slightly more damage than sword, extra durable. Has more reach.
-Spear: Crafted with two sticks diagonally and the material in the top right or left corner. Same damage as knife, but long reach, and can be thrown like knife.
-Crossbow: Unfortunately I cannot think of a crafting recipe for this. It would do more damage than the bow, and you wouldn't have to charge it up either. It would have less durability than the bow and would take crossbow bolts, a new ammo made with a tip that could be iron, gold or diamond, and a stick and a feather. It being more expensive, you would get 4 bolts per crafting. And bolts would be enchant-able with sharpness, smite, and bane of arthropods. The better the material used, the more damage it does.
-Battleaxe: Would take three sticks in a vertical line, and two iron on the top right side and two on the top left side. The battleaxe would do more damage than the long sword, and would have the same reach as a sword. It would have a bit more durability.
-War Hammer: This would be a beast on the battlefield. It would be crafted with 6 of any of the materials used for crafting current swords, as well as a stick on the bottom. The war hammer would do a bit more damage than the battleaxe, and it would have a small area of effect on all players other than you. Its durability would be the same as a sword.
-Different bows: Bows would include diamond, iron and gold bows. The material would increase the durability and the range.
-New arrows: While crossbows have bolts that can do more damage and be enchanted, arrows can be tipped with cobble, iron, gold or diamond! Then after making the arrow, you could add a slime ball to make it a poison arrow. Adding gunpowder would make a explosive arrow. It would make a small explosion that would do good damage, but only break a block or two. Adding a flint & steel to an arrow in the crafting menu would give you a fire arrow. Upon crafting, you would get the flint & steel back, with less durability of course. Fire arrows would catch blocks on fire upon impact as well as players. Crafting with a stick, iron ingot and feather would give you a iron arrow. It would do 20% more damage than a regular arrow, and you would get 6 arrows for each crafting, as well as with a regular arrow. And you could add anything to a iron arrow, so you could have a "Iron Fire Arrow"
-Shields: Shields would be held in one hand and you could still hold your weapon in the other. You couldn't hold bows or crossbows though. Shields would offer some armor protection when held, but holding it up (I don't know what key it would be) 80% of damage would be blocked. The shield would have about 140 durability max, so it could take as many hits as a player before being destroyed. Shields could be made in wood, with 60 durability, iron with 100, and diamond with 140. They would also block arrows (As long as the player's shield got in the way!), therefore preventing damage from them to the player. And for a nice effect, arrows would stick in them.
-Armor: Chainmail armor could be crafted. A iron ingot would give you two bits of chainmail. You can use chainmail to craft chainmail armor. Chainmail would have a great durability like it already does, but knifes, spears, arrows and bolts would do more damage to the player via penetrating the chains. Armor could also slow you down depending on the type your wearing. Leather would be really light witch is helpful for archers. Diamond would be the heaviest although it won't be too slowing.

Well, holy cow. That was quite a bit of typing right there. Of course, more things could be added.

Bleeding- I think bleeding would be a nice thing for a mod like this. The more damage your taking, the greater is your chance of bleeding. Once you start bleeding, taking more damage can result in "Bleeding II" or "Bleeding III". This makes the bleeding more severe. Bleeding would slowly drain your health until you die. To fix this, you can use paper to bandage yourself and stop the bleeding, or using a health potion or golden apple would work too.

That's about it! Any more features might destroy my computer ;D
This post is completely original, and yes, there are mods out there that include a some of these features, but nothing like this. Thanks for reading guys & girls! :D

P.S. If your a modder and your reading this, I would love to see this come true. Just make sure to put my name somewhere in there ;)
