Hoeless Farming - 1.2.0 - By ArwenOC
Hoeless Farming is a datapack / resource pack combination designed to bring more to crop farming in Minecraft, as well as increase the usefulness of the wandering trader. The pack adds 6 new crops, a new utility block, and introduces a new currency, Topaz.
How to use:
To get started, you'll need some of the new crops. These can be found at a low chance when punching grass. Your main way of obtaining them will be through planter farming.
Planters can be bought from apprentice villagers for 29-34 emeralds, and can be placed down and picked up like a normal block. Right clicking the planter while holding any crop (offhand and mainhand supported, wheat seeds and beetroot seeds used for wheat and beetroot) will place the crop into the planter and begin its growth. You can either wait 10-30 minutes, or bone meal the crop to speed it up. This can be done by right clicking the planter with bone meal (offhand and mainhand supported). Each crop has 4 stages, and once it is in its fourth stage, the player can right click the planter to harvest it, and will receive 1-4 of the plant item.
The six new plants can be sold to apprentice farmers for a 14-18 plant -> 1 Topaz trade. Topaz is a secondary currency which the wandering trader uses instead of emeralds. Not only have all its trades been turned into topaz trades, 2 new trades will also be added with every wandering trader, offering exotic items in low quantities for good prices. Rarer items will only be able to be purchased once or twice, to keep the game balanced. Some more notable items that the trader now sells are wither skulls, netherite ingots, ender chests, and totems of undying. These all come in reasonable prices, but only are available in quantities of 1 or 2. This way the player is always ready to purchase items from a wandering trader, should they come about. Never again will the wandering trader be a sorry sight.
