I learned that the name for apple in Norwegian sounds something along the lines of “applesun,” and as Norwegian is a route to English, I’d guess that means the color came first! I dunno’ though.

I believe it was the fruit as the color was named after (I heard somewhere) and the chicken vs egg thing I feels depends on you religion, as a Christian I believe the chicken came first as I doubt when God was making animals he just made an egg.

Been some time, but if we are referring to orange in the English language, if I recall correctly, we get the color orange from the fruit. Again, it's been some time, but I remember reading/hearing that from somewhere, which I had found interesting.
