Basically, I want to detect if someone uses a knowledge book, which would then give them an additional heart permanently. I know you would probably need a scoreboard, execute, and an attribute command for it to work, but I don't know how to go about this.

I think yo could just check if right click while holding item named sort of situation
I carrot on a stick would be easier you can just have a texture pack that changes the texture of it depending on a certain data value tag

You should really use Discord for asking for help, I have a nice discord server for this, plus Minecraft Commands, and The Timbwr Forge are both good too, you’ll get quicker responses
