20% Block Textures Done, Iron and Gold Armour Done, 1 Painting Done



Blocked Reality was a texture pack that I worked on around the start of 2020, before I moved onto my 8x8 texture pack. There is only 20% of blocks covered, and only minor shader support, with normal maps done for certain blocks.

The main focus with this texture pack was to create something that looked good without shaders, but could also utilize them. This is achieved by having shadows inbuilt into the textures themselves, to remove the flat look Minecraft naturally has, but also having a normal map that will come into play when using shaders. This means that you can use this texture pack with barely any performance hit without shaders, given that you can normally run 512x.

I have also made sure to make each texture not look grainy, noticeable repeated etc. This is a common problem with higher res realistic packs, and it is why I settled for a stylized realism, to not fall into the same traps that most packs at this resolution do. This means that at medium to far distances, you won't see the usual pixelated grain that is harsh on the eyes, and will flicker when moving. This grain is created by high res textures having too much complexity, with no normal map or shader to smooth it out and add depth to it. This pack has intention, and each texture is highly edited to suit other textures, in both colour, style, and detail. No more of the jarring textures that look as if they have just been taken from a photograph and put onto a block, with no real care for neighboring textures or the grain created - no more bright green grass stuck on top of a dark flat green grass texture, creating horrid contrast.

This is a pack that was made for personal use, but I have decided to share it to the public with my lack of play or dedication to finishing it. I will continue it at one point if it gets the support it needs, but if not, this does take way too much time to make for me to consider it worth it. Feel free to mix and match this with other texture packs that are of a realistic nature, that are also not finished. There are quite a lot out there. Do not redistribute these textures as your own or put them on alternative sites outside of Planet Minecraft without my permission.
